On March 11, Premier Mike Baird announced the design for the 200 hectare Western Sydney recreational project to be known as Bungarribee Super Park.
The park will include 15000 trees, 4km of bike and walking paths with bridges and lookouts, multiple playgrounds, cafes, an events space and 400 parking spaces.
The $15 million project is due for completion in 2018.
“The new Bungarribee Super Park will become as iconic for Western Sydney as New York’s Central Park and London’s Hyde Park.” claims Baird.
“The last expansion of recreational facilities on this scale in Western Sydney was almost 30 years ago when Bicentennial Park at Homebush was built.”
Mr Baird made the announcement on his campaign bus tour ahead of the March 28 election where he retained his seat for NSW.
