Last month I was in South Korea on assignment and thought I would mix work with pleasure by attending a 3 day camping music festival on my last weekend there which coincided with their Buddha’s birthday long weekend celebrations.
The 6th Annual World DJ Festival was located about an hour outside of Seoul in Yangpyeong Narukke Festival Park and spans around 5 stages with a camping area already set up when we arrived.
The line-up was not incredible and mostly consists of local acts with a few underwhelming international DJs from Australia and the States but nontheless there was an enormous turn out as well as a significant expat presence, soaking in the cocktails by the bucketful, soju and the festive spirit.
According to its website, their first event in 2007 was recognized as becoming one of the largest festivals in Korea, as it has attracted more than 90,000 people over three days. It was certainly one of my memorable moments during this last trip to South Korea and I can’t wait til I go back again in August. Annyong Karseyo Korea and Komapsumnida for the memories!
** On a side note, I’m due back in Korea on assignment throughout the month of August.
