Infinite Love – 2012 Sydney Mardi Gras Parade

Every year, Sydney erupts in a fabulous celebration of life as Mardi Gras – Australia’s biggest party and LGBTQ celebration – sprays the city with sequins to stage one of the world’s best street parades. More than 9000 spectators lines the route of Oxford street to witness the after-dark extravaganza of marchers in spectacular costumes, colourful floats, and sheer joy as energetic dancers winds their way through the streets.

This year’s new logo and theme represents “Infinite Love”. Focussing on diversity and participation, while celebrating the unique and original, the re-launched brand hopes to cement the event as the most iconic street carnival in Australia and a must-see for global travellers.

2012 would be my fifth year in a row I had the opportunity to cover the Parade. For more images from the night, take a look at my Facebook galleries here and here.
