In efforts to branch out and shoot a more diverse area of photography this year, I managed to secure a media pass for the star studded MTV Awards. It didn’t matter that I rarely watch television nor listen to mainstream music and hence had no idea who 90% of these studs were stars of. It was something different from my usual realm and I left the gig exhilarated, amused, elbowed (by aggressive paparazzi – no, Really!), and somewhat starstrucked (ok they were beautiful people and I am only human).
The official press release became my bible for the shoot filling me in on the who’s who and the what’s what walking the red carpet at Darling Harbour’s Convention Centre for the Vodafone MTV Australia Awards.
Hosted by Fall Out Boy bassist Wentz, the annual gongs were, as always, more about glitz and glamour than actual music, with only two Aussies taking home statues from nine categories.
R’n’B breakthrough Jessica Mauboy took to the stage to belt out the title track of her debut album, Been Waiting then proceeded to pick up a title that had to go to one of our own – Best Aussie.
Lara Bingle present an award in her an oddly perhaps Xena Warrior Princess inspired outfit (the Autumn Collection?). She is so incredibly beautiful and photogenic though she can pretty much wear what she wants and get away with it.
